Mercury says the 2,4 EFI are actually rated at 240 BHP at 6800 rpm.
I have the original brochure from 1990 .
Fuel consumption @ full throttle is 91 liter /hour,or 24 gallons (us)
Anything over 7000 on a stock engine will drop horsepower ,but rpm will still go up on those engines.
Some of those have thick con rods,others have very thin ones,also the pistons are forged at some models ,others are cast .
Some have drilled holes in the piston to lubricate/cool the bridge in the exhaust,and some have not.
earlier types have an electronic snout mounted tpi,later style have the vacuum tpi,the earlier types with electronic tpi have a smoother running powerband ( IMO)
Both tpi,s are no longer available ,as for more parts on a 2,4 EFI
even for a 2,5 EFI,you have to swich to a digital ECU,as the tpi is also NLA.
Be aware that some parts are NLA,and that if you need any ,you have to find used parts,or aftermarked ,but there are plenty good used parts for sale.
