Halmatic DS110 Don Shead

Hi

I'm the proud owner of a Don Shead Halmatic DS110. I'm trying to research how many are actually left floating these days. Only 28 were made in the early 70's so I'm sure a few have fallen by the way side but I know a few are still kicking about.

Has anyone here got any ideas of any still kicking about?

The ones I know are still going i belive are...

Desperate (mine)
Fast Buck
After You
Ruby Nora
Red Baron

If you are the owners of any of the above i'd love to hear from you too.

Plus any info on the military version would be amazing as well

Thanks in advance
Simon.

Hey! I own a Halmatic ds110 of 1970. The last years (since 1980s) the boat is in Greece! It is a great boat! A I was a child, we used to go fishing with it as also exploring Greek islands. It is a boat that can face rough aegean sea with no problem!

It is equipped with 2 Ford Thornycroft 135hp (180hp with turbo) but everywhere I checked on the internet it used to have different engines.
Does anyone know if they have been changed or if it was ordered with them?

Also, the last about 20 years is out of the sea due to lack of time and high taxes that are aplied in Greece for such a boat. However, I would like to refurbish it the next few years since its polyester parts are in great condition and I realy love this boat!

Does anyone know which types of engines I could put in it? I would like to put 2 bigger engines so to make it faster (2x250-300hp). It used to reach the speed of cruise of about 17-18 knots but I would like to make it go at about 25knots.

Thank you very much for your answers in advance!

DS110 in Greece

I just saw this link as I am researching boats that I have sailed in. I actually took the boat in Greece from Hamble to Athens. We travelled by road down to the South of France and from there, eventually to Athens.
If this is of interest, I can flesh out the story in due course.

Hi, I wrote a fairly long account of the trip but it failed to show up when I went to review it. It was an epic trip taking 8 plus weeks. I will try and start over and resubmit. We went from Antibes to Porto Cervo, Ischia, Messina, Crotone, Patras, Corinth Canal and then to Pireaus. I was young and very foolish, we had next to no equipment and were extremely lucky to survive.

To add to the list of boats, the boat i took to Greece was called Bushido and I registered another with Lloyds as Titanic 2. I made my trip in 1971.
