It's a automated advertising bot. they're a pain in the arse.

They register & post automatically, and I'm currently deleting about 30-40 automated registrations from these bastards per week. I have better things to do, so find them feckin annoying.

Send a message via MSN to Rupert Munro
could you not add one of the 'copy what it says in the box' things to help prevent it at registration?

I thought it was weird Jon, ive been watching the names of the new members joining over the last few weeks and thought the chosen user id's were strange.

No way of stopping it i suppose?

The crowd that keep hitting my forum bypass the 'whats in the box' question, because they have human operators, that get the automated screen filled in and processed, then get presented with the 'whats in the box' question, which they type in and press enter. They can log on to around 50 forums a minute!

Same as the auto-email.

The new thing we are trying is a two tier membership scheeme, where all members with less than 5 posts have to have thier posts authorised. After 5 posts they become 'normal' members.

I am lucky, I have 12 moderators and 5 admins to handle the workload, so I dont have to stress too much!

On the 205gtidrivers forum you have to register then post a message introducing yourself. Untill this has been approved you can't make any more posts.

Correct me if i am wrong, but vbulletin is a pay for software rather than free like phpbb, have a chat with VB they should have a solution or free upgrade.
