History of British boat builders ?
Dear Boat Mad'ers
I have got these questions, which I am not able to answer myself. So if any of you knowledgeble gentlemen on this fine forum are able to help - I will be very appriciative.
Qustions regarding british boat builders:
1. Who designed the Marsham line of boats ?
2. For how long where Marsham produced, and by whom ?
3. Who, besides ********, currently produce boats based on Steve Bakers design ?
4. What happend to Chief designer John Rock at Fletcher Boats ?
5. Does anybody else than Osprey use Fletchers hulls in their RIBs ?
6. What happend to William Shakespeare ( The boat designer )?
Best regards
Troels L

We (BanananShark) produce the 19 Phantom - Nick Barsch owns the rights and original moulds and we mould them for him - he fits them out.
Trio in Southampton have the moulds for the 21.

Marshans were designed by the builder, Terry Sleap, he still has the tooling, but don't think he builds anything now.
Boat Builders:
Trio, Bananashark, Leeway ribs, Solent ribs, phantomUK (clive Jones), phantom evolution, and probably loads more. Some legal, some not.

Terry Sleap and his brother Colin who designed, built and raced Marshan sportsboats can probably still be contacted through The Romney Marsh Potato Co. of Cockreed Lane, New Romney, Kent. They probably would build a boat if anyone asked them to!!

History of Boat Builders
My father used to be in the Shakespear Racing Team back in the early 70s. The boats were all red/yellow, I will dig out some pictures.
Dad also raced for Norman Fletcher in the Fletcher/Yamaha Team from about 75 - 82. He started in the 129 Fletcher with a 55hp Yam. This was Fletchers hay day and dad was given a free boat and a free engine from Yamaha - doesn't happen now!! He won quite a few Championships with Fletcher in Class IV.
I will try and get some pictures and information from him.
