It's the same old thing innit - whoever wins gets accused of being a cheat. If the organisers, or other racers, felt that's the case, they should protest/disqualify etc.

When the ECU's were all swapped around, did the recipient of the "allegedly" modified ECU win?

Look at verytricky - he's got an extra 4mph out of his V24, and if he hadn't been so public about what he is doing and what he gained from each step, it'd be easy to accuse him of cheating. Maybe he's bluffing us?

So I'm not saying shelley or any other teams did, or didn't cheat - I don't know, and frankly I don't care. If I'd been racing against her and had good reason to believe the ecu was illegal, I woulda protested.

This is like one of those chav protests "I know my rights" they chant, when in fact, they have none, and just want a good bitching session.

Having been in this position myself I totaly agree with you Matt.

one of which has posted a lot on this thread.
Your boat maybe faster than most but if you can't drive a pointed stick up a slippery goats bum it's possible you won't win ,so in that case call every body else a cheat.

Be aware I'm definately not accussing mark of cheating either, I'm just playing devils advocate. I'm sure if he wins there will be those who will accuse him though.

Damn - the cats out the bag! A pox on you Matt!!

One thing for sure - In my first season of racing - the only person who was accused of cheating by most of the other compeditors in *every* race was Gavin Brown. This is not lible, it is fact. Every time he raced there were mutterings of protests and dodgy ECU's etc, etc.

No one ever had the balls to come through and put the money on the table. Why is that? Because at the base of it they know that although Gavin Brown was 'working' the boat, Pete Little was driving it, and he would prolly win in any boat?

2006 is a brand new season. Lets start off with a brand new honesty in racing. If one of the guys in *your* class is cheating, or you suspect him/her of cheating, then put up the money. Its only £50. Put up the money and let the cards fall where they do. It was not you who cheated, so the fallout from the cheating is not your fault is it. Report it, pay the money and let the RYA get to the bottom of the problem. It should be simple and straight forward!

There would be so much less bullshit if everyone knew that the first 3 boats *will* get scruteneered, and *any* protest will result in a full examination of the protested boat!

This swings both ways!

Someone like Pete Little can quite happily continue to whip the other competitors, without worrying about some half baked wannabe racer saying he is cheating! You think Pete Little cheats, put down the £50. After two or three of these protests, people will accept that he is good, because he is good.

It is not a bad thing these protests. It is a good thing, and the mindset needs to change. The person who lodges a protest about another competitor cheating should be OK with it. It is the mutterings in the pits, and the snide comments that are the issue.

I hope I will be good enough next year to have a few protests lodged against me!

( dont worry Matt, I will be fully legal! )

QUOTE by adam:
Easy to see why it is popular with TV companies - collisions and accidents guaranteed!

Yes, that's because the Honda lot are famous for being crap drivers. Do you know that last year they had to remove most of the footage of the incidents because if anyone saw it outside of the people at the venue, then the insurance would have been made null and void because of the driving!
The tape was taken away from CH4 and is at the bottom of someones drawer...
What is even funnier is that at the awards, they show footage of all the bumps and collisions... and the Honda lot cheer and laugh as they bang into one another...!!

Can you imagine any of the proper offshore racers...i'm talking rib and 2ltr and stuff banging into each other and finding funny??

Never gonna happen is it?

And what's wrong with the size of Shellys bum??..she fits in the seat doesn't she..the V24 one that they had to buy the special size because she wouldnt fit in the standard

Back to the subject on hand.....did someone say 70mph is that on the trailer on the M1

Joking apart. I don't know why no one has protested yet unless its cos Honda and some teams are relatively new and they just aren't yet 'up for it' as much as the offshore guys.....they love a good protest!

But one thing is for sure. When the ECUs were changed at Plymouth. Shelly was furious and looked at Trevor the engineer...who we know has dabbled in the past in dodgey dealings as the rumours go....in the 'if looks could kill' way.

This is when she dropped back to around 6th position or something. She didnt have the speed off the blocks which even when rory has been in the boat, he reckons that its the quickest boat from standing still he has been in... apparently none of the others compare, and he's been in nearly all of them, but then again. The navigator is the Honda boss' daughter......!!!! So who know's whats being shipped in for them

did someone say 70mph

ANSWER: YES! and when the ECU was changed, the user wasnt so quick off the block! It was even noted by the race organisers..
