Dry Fit Indy Drive

Hello,
Decided to dry fit one indy drive so that i could position the k-planes as far down the V as possible without clashing with the drives/props on full steering lock.Tabs will be fitted horizontally, last job today was to make a 1" thick drilling jig with mounting holes and hydraulic connections which will then be screwed to the transom to allow easy drilling of the mounting holes.

Hi Jon,
I know i am only small but those holes were very useful for getting in and out of the engine bay,UNTIL i put the transom shields in, saved an awful lot of climbing...

Hi Baj666,
The drives are rated at 1000hp as Ilmor have in development a supercharged V10 which will probably have 950-1000hp available in 12-18 months

Thanks Peter the pic's are fantastic , it looks to be coming together very well indeed, bet you cant wait for the launch day and even more so when all the running in is done and throttles can be hammered home
Your internet site looks very nice ... looks like you have built up a great company their, not that I know anything about pumps and Hydraulics however I guess fixing a seal in your marine hydraulics is not quite the headache it is for the rest of us

What gearing did you choose? 1,50 or 1,64?

Hi Tom,
Being a bit of a porsche fan the RS is borrowed from them as it roughly translates to lightweight. The 40 is a rounded up boat length in feet as RS 39FT
6 5/8" doesn't really roll of the tongue very well
How is your new job going?

Hi CFUN,
Thankyou for your interest in our website. We have been in business since 1978 & gradually expanded to what it is now.As well as building pumps, motors, cylinders & hose assemblies we also design & manufacture powerpacks & drill rigs see enclosed picture. So it makes the engineering of Carbon Cheetah relatively straight forward with all the necessary facilities on site.Although being the MD i still wear overalls & spend at least 90% of my time building & testing our products but i wouldn't have it any other way as i get a tremendous amount of satisfaction from the hands on approach so does Carolyn

Hi MIKKO,
I have chosen the 1:50 ratio as i believe this will give us the most efficient props for our speed range also there will be slightly less torque loadings on the output shaft.

K-planes

Hi all,
Marked out transom with masking tape to provide datum for attaching drill jig for mounting holes.Drilled holes slightly oversized to allow room for a couple of coats of resin to seal all fibres prior to final fitting.Dry fitted k-planes to check clearancesWill remove all parts tomorrow & get ready for flow coat & then i can assemble for the final time.

Presumably when he slides into the propane tank and set it off it will dry the yard out nicely.

Hi Amott,
Although the quad is sliding it is under the total control of the rider so i think the tank is quite safe & also the propane tank is 8mm thick rolled & seam welded steel so i don't think i would even dent it if the worst was to happen

PS. I also doughnut my Holden Yute in the same area
PPS:Before i do my Next one wheeled wheelie up the yard i will phone the HSE for a risk assessment.

Are those propeller shafts steel? They look blue? Also, it looks like there is a taper on the shaft? What is the spline #?

Hi,
Spline fitment is the same as the number 6 merc, as for the material it is manufactured from i would suspect it is some form of carbon steel

Pete, this is probably a stupid question, but have you checked your lock to lock on the drives to ensure no 'intercourse' will occure tween drive & tab at 'the extreme's with the positions you've used?
