Import duty is based on C&F value (cost of goods and freight) and is currently 1.7%
VAT is calculated by:
value + freight + duty + £550.00 x 17.5% = vat payable to customs (Seafreight)
value + freight + duty + 40p per kg (Gross or volume whichever the greater) x 17.5% = vat payable to customs (Airfreight)
Hope this helps.
