Yeh, cost of boat, plus shipping, x 2.7%, + vat..... of course, the subject of CE marking comes into the equation, but I met a man today who will CE a sub 10 metre yank boat for 850 quid!

If you import it as a race boat it doesn't need CE certification.

I'm in Florida soon if there is anything you want me to look at around the Miami area.

Why not get one of those jet boats with a V8 in then you will be able to run all the up the Tyne to Hexham!

I looked at this a while a go and the costs got silly. As well as the CE marking malarkey, as far as I know for leisure boating anyway, your engine(s) need to be emissions tested (on a bench) and noise tested (drive-by). You can only dodge this if your engines are new enough that the manufacturer can supply data to the level required by CE. A twin engined boat at £16K over there was working out around £25K after the extras, potential and otherwise, were included.
The RYA has plenty of info on CE requirements. £850 seems a bargain but beware that everything necessary is included. Good luck - I know how you feel. Some of the kit over there is too sexy for words.

:(

i know i know....the more i get deeper into this whole thing the more it seems like its guna bit me in the ass!, but as you say bud there just so gorgeous!, i must have....

but in the real worls it may just be too much, most of the boats are like late 70's early 80's..would they still need c.e? and emissions...well!!!

any idea's anyone?

thanks guys, Danny.

I used these guys for my boat. Here are some details: http://www.ceproof.com/Marine/asb.htm

Luckily mine was a fairly generic American Sports Boat, with a standard engine layout (Volvo Penta 4.3) so the sound and emissions testing that they'd done to previous boats could be applied to mine. The work needed to comply was fairly painless... new fuel hoses, fire extinguishers, non-return valve on the bilge hose and a few labels here and there.

As I understand it, if your boat uses standard parts and has a standard layout, within certain tolerances, the testing they've done on similar boats can be applied to yours.
If it's something out of the ordinary, then you get into the realms of sound and emission testing as well as possibly more detailled work to comply with the RCD.

CE Proof are an excellent company, and are the one Mike and I used to CE our range of boats.

Whilst at Drivers the other day, I got talking to a guy who was doing the CE on a new Bayliner, and he reckons a sub 10 metre US sportsboat costs £850.00.

The company is www.americansportsboats.com ask for Dave

This page gives instructions for your registrar:
http://support.easily.co.uk/al/12/2/...=0.5864176&s=1

Have you still got your username & password?
Go to http://easily.co.uk/index.php3?exe=namesadmin and login following the instructions above.

You need to edit the nameserver entries from ns33.1and1.co.uk and ns34.1and1.co.uk to ns59.1and1.co.uk and ns60.1and1.co.uk

Or email me your username & password and I'll sort it

Oh Man!

You are hosted with Easily.co.uk?

They suck worse than the best type of hoover you can find. You should change to something else as soon as you can.

Easily has a 'cheap' arrangement with their hosting company ( they are a reseller, they dont own their own premisis ) and they are the LAST to get serviced or looked at in the event of an outage.

In 2005 all Easily servers in Redbus were down for 48 hours, whilst IBM support had their servers up and running in 2 hours!

He's not hosted with easily, he's just got his domain registered with them.
The hosting is on the same server as a few other very select sites, including media.boatmad.com and your favourite club, orda.co.uk
