Improvements to our Forum

I like to keep-up as best I can with peoples thoughts on improvements for our forum, so if any people out there have any ideas for making things better, please voice them here.
(I'm aware of the mixed emotions regarding the software update on RIBnet, and OSO to V3 of Vbulletin, so for now at least, I'll stick with our current version, maybe when everyone is more familiar with VB3 we will look at this again, and of course by then, JK will be able to help me upgrade as he'll be an expert )

Bring on the suggestions.

JF

I think it just took getting used to (new RIBNET look)...

Really like some of the features on RIBNET like the info bar on state of PM box.

Also the facility to easily use fonts, colours etc. in posts & messages

& Uploading multiple attachments too/sending out a PM to more than one individual...

A couple of things I'm not a big fan of but we're living with them & no probs really. Boss is dacent.

Fond of this site...its simplicity mainly & general openness...

Like our smilies

Think that moderators ( & I have to be so careful here ) could have more PM space !!!!

Boss is also dacent -thanks for the stickers but the postman gave me a funny look ('the Paddy hangout' indeed...we're trying to keep up appearances as best we can!!!!! )

Missus (well you did ask!!!)

Just thought I'd mention a really useful feature on VB3... you can download all your PMs at the click of a button... so you can then delete them all on the server. Good housekeeping and all that.

Now I know you're all thinking: "Why does the sad f'ker save all his PM's?" Well, it's cos there's loadsa peeps 'phone numbers and other important stuff in there. Mind you, some people can't remember their own phone number and send the wrong one... you know who you are!!!

Nah, I don't agree. It's like some cars and boats, they're just nicer. It's difficult to know why but they just are.

Thanks also for the stickers - photos of them stuck in appropriate places will be posted as they are available!

The postman wrote on another envelope that he had put them under the mat! - Mind you they were in a brown envelope!

At the risk of sounding like a luddite I believe this version of the software is better , the reason is I believe it's simplicity allows you to communicate better, and I also think the thread information is easier to spot.

I do like the reference section over on my spiritual home but feel guilty to not contributing to it. But then I know fkk orl anyway. so one of them would be good.

I also believe a thread for tade tips and ways to boat cheaper would be good as well.

eg my Optimax snapped it's drive belt the other day..so I went to a Mercury dealer and bought one for 42 kwid.....I then took it to Kimber frictions and said I'd like a spare on of these please.....they said cerainly sir that will be 11.42.......Now I wouldn't buy an ECU from Kimbers though but I got a spare drive belt

Also a boat mad charity auction with me being the benefactor would be good

Oh yeah and longer editing time, for those of us with honest hearts but flawed fingers

cheers
Stu

JF, fanks, boatmad stickers just arrived brilliant, so I fobbed Rogue Wave off with some hotribs ones which he was chuffed wiv.

After a hard day slaving over a PC its nice to come home to a web site thats really simple and just does what it says on the tin. Surely its the content rather than a flashy web site thats important. Lets stay as we are for the moment after all if it an't broke don't fix it.

OK, thanks for the suggestions so far.
I'll increase avatar allowance to 100.
And I am working toward keeping the main site more up to date, and a little more interesting.

Editing time now increased to 12 hours and 'last edited by' notice comes in at 60 mins.

Keep em coming.

I've made a couple of changes to the layout on RIBnet which I trust will meet your approval.
