Inboard mono around 21-23 feet?

Hi All,

I think i'm asking the impossible here, but i'll give it a shot!
I'm gonna be selling my cat and changing to a mono now i've got a family on the way... but quite fancy going for something v8

I'd like it to be at least 21 feet as it's usually pretty rough around here, and fairly quick... but... not too expensive to buy!

Ideally it'll be something needing work to keep costs down, or maybe just a hull? I'm not sure what the options will be though, anyone got any suggestions?

it did cross my mind that i can get hold of a quite heavily built 21 skater cat over here (guernsey skater), would be an interesting project to fit with a v8, never seen anything like that before! was thinking bravo drive set up to be surface piercing??

Any suggestions welcome!

James

For a family boat i allways thought the old Hydrolift F23 would be a good bet, really nice fast hull and a brillant lay out for water sports etc. Will easely do 70 mph with a small block. Quite a few for sale now second hand in sweden relativly cheeply.

Extreme would be a bit expensive for me as i would have to buy one in good nick... Ideally i'd like to buy something with a low initial cost, that i can build up over time.
I was thinking about converting a ring 21 to inboard, say a 5.7 (or whatever the 300hp ish ones are) with a surface drive, i remember a couple of drives on here a while back quite cheap.
The hull would be cheap as chips and then i could go from there?

Haven't ever seen a hydrolift, i'll google them now!

Good suggestions so far, any others?

Cheers,

James

they look like very nice boats, not keen on the layout of the 23's though, want to stick with the 'powerboat' look of ring, phantoms etc...

I need to find put what surface drives could be linked to a motor such as a 350 magnum and what the cost would be! I know a bravo leg would be easier, but i love my rooster too much!

I dont think putting an inboard in a 21 ring will give you what you are looking for.

What you are after comes with the higher price tag attached sorry to say one of those hard ass equations, there are a couple of 25 phantoms floating around the island what about one of those?

Martin - Thanks for the link, there's some great info on there, will provide hours of reading!!

Blufin - I think you're right... I have my doubts about the ring, it was just one of the only hulls i could think of!
I only know of 2 P25's over here at the moment, one is for sale with twin 300 promaxes for about 15000 apparently, and the other one is in 'project' condition - and would be ideal - but isn't for sale... the guy who owns it is on here occasionally.

I also love my cat, would be great to be able to keep with that idea... still can't stop thinking about that 21 skater with a v8 in the back

Basically i'm wanting to create something a bit different... i've got the time and knowlege to do the work, just not an initial large amount of cash to spend, else i'd just go out and buy a donzi or something!

Any more suggestions?

Cheers
