Intercom/Communication Help
From the XCAT thread:
Quote:
We're using a lipstick mounted on top of canopy and, believe it or not, a peli and old sony handicam to act as VCR. Tape yes tape... The comms are Stilo 4 way so we take them direct to the sony as well as the feed from the lipstick. So the sony records:
The comms communications (when working)
The vhf radio
The lipstick
And we have a spare for perhaps mobile phone
|
I read the above this morning and since I was already looking at what I need to build a decent intercom/communication setup I figured somebody on here could point me in the right direction... Here is what I'm looking or: - Intercom for driver and navigator
- Ability to record what is said via onboard camcorder
- Ability for 1 person onshore to hear what is said (possible?)
For the above setup to work best would it be ideal to buy helmets with built in earmuffs (ie. Stilo Trophy Offshore/DES) or can we use a regular helmet and buy the earpieces seperately? And can anybody tell me where I can buy the setup needed to do the above?
Cheers

All arrived today, just as discussed with Nathan. 2 x full face headsets, dash mounted individual on/off and volume controls, with interface to icom DSC VHF all connected. Nathan very helpfull and all arranged over the phone. Final bill less than his original quote too, cant say better than that. i recommend Boat Intercoms and Graytronics.

So you can record what's being said on camera? That's pretty awesome! What recording gear are you using, are you recording video too? I'm gonna be looking for exactly that setup soon...

Deerhound's system did not have an audio out-put, but that is something that I have done. The out-put is at "line level" so should work with most recorders. Give me a call James I'm sure I can sort something.
I'm planning on coming down for the Guernsey Powerboat Week so if I don't hear from you before then, I'll see you there!
