Having never been in a stepped hull boat I don't know but it seems like b*ll*cks to me.
The whole principle of a stepped hull means it will run far 'flatter', and doesn't require constant tweeking on the trim as speed & sea conditions change, at least no where near as much as a regular high performance 'V' bottom. So I guess in answer to the question, yeah, I agree.
