Just received my latest......

..ebay 'Wise Purchase'.

an imaculate copy of the August 1982 issue of "Cars & Car Conversions".

Some of you will remember it, as it's the one with an article on a Formula 1 car, vs a Formula one Circuit cat (V8 OMC) with a standing start (sort of) race.

The two vehicles where from the 'John Player Special' sponsorship camp.

Some nice shots of the boat, with cutaway drawing, and pics of dismantles motor, lower unit etc.

Will scan, and .PDF it later, and pop it on the forum for those interested.

Sounds good!

JPS in 1982 eh? That'll probably be Lotus with Elio DeAngelis then? I remember a video they showed on the Marlboro stand at the motor show a few years back of a Fiat going round Monza while Schumacher eats his breakfast at the trackside. The Fiat is about two-thirds track when Schuey puts down his newspaper, straps into the F1 Ferrari and blast off in pursuit. He overtakes the hatchback on the approach to the line. All good fun!

What was the outcome of the car versus boat test then?

That trick has been done loads of times with different F1 cars and drivers. They quite often chuck something else a bit tasty into the mix too.

JPS had to be the best colour scheme ever. Funny how banning fag advertising hasn't cut down on the number of fags......
