Nope! Sorry Tim, just checked some old entry lists. Slipstream is down as a Lancer 33´ (twin Mercruiser totalling 600hp), whilst Miss Delson (twin Perkins totalling 500hp) was a 34´ hull from Invader boats, whoever they were!

I nearly bought Colin Chapmans corniche about 6 years ago,A mate who owns a boatyard had it up for sale,it was fitted with twin gm diesels. It was for sale on ebay a couple of years ago in a sorry state, a dj owns it and I think its still on a canal towpath near Manchester.

Also, an amazing piece of footage of 'Blitz' hooking in the most violent way I've ever seen, chucking the driver out (who died) and the driverless boat runs up the beach/rocks flat out!..nice.
I'll host it on here at the weekend.[/QUOTE]
Blitz i believe was owned by Alf Bontoft who kept it on the river Wyre in Blackpool...he regulary entered the CTC in the 70,s with Andy Jardines slipstream which was also kept on the wyre.....Unfortunately Alf was the driver of Blitz when the fateful accident happened.....His sons took up powerboat racing after their fathers death but not sure whether they raced Blitz or not, im sure Hutchy will know.
Jon i look forward to seeing the video

Didn't that become 'I like it too' before 'Realite Charger'?
It now belongs to a member of this forum in (I think) Sweden.

Just found this thread so please excuse me reminiscing. Tried to convince my Dad to buy a Lancer Corniche Express, well they appealled to the little speed merchant in me. But he went with a Fairey Huntsman 28 with a couple of T-6354's (slightlty older downrated ones if I recall too which was a shame) but the teen in me still loved her even if she wasn't the fastest as she handle all the weather you could throw at her - Aria was her name.
Had my speed thrills in a 16'6" Dateline Bounty with a 140 Mercruiser - got stopped all the time in Carrick Roads as there was 6mph limit and I just pushed the throttle open full to 50+ hehehe

Hi Phillip,
There were a few Lancer Corniche in Guernsey a few years ago
1 x blue/white running twin 5.7 260hp mercruisers called Whistler
1 x All yellow running twin straight six mercruisers called yellow bird
1 x blue/white running twin 188hp V8 mercruiser called underwriter
1 x red/white running twin 188hp V8 mercruisers called red witch
I bought one a few years back and spent two years ground up refit with a pair of 300hp Volvo V8 motors/duo-props.
Was all completed with new paint and interior and due to be launched straight after the christmas break.
It was then that the local dope smoking hard boys broke into my shed and torched it!
I am sure I have an original brochure somewhere, I will try to find it for you.
The twin 260 V8's were pushing the boats just above 40 knots, the 188's were doing about 32-35 and the straight sixes were only a few knots slower than that.
Had to cut out and fit new transom as original build quality mixed with age made this necessary.
Good luck with your project
Steve

When I was a lad & worked at Pipers Island on the Thames at Caversham Bridge in the early to mid 70's we had one there for a while, red with white detailing if I remember rightly. I'm not sure she wasn't new then. They were Merc dealers back then but I can't remember if they fitted Mercruisers to her, I can't imagine they did as they had no way to get her out of the water & its a bit difficult doing it afloat.

Bit late on this thread - Invader Boats built the first Miss Delson for Ken Raybould in 1971.
In actual fact Invader boats was Ken's name for the boat was actually moulded by my then employer, Marine Contruction (Woolston) Ltd. who moulded & fitted out sailing cruisers (Trident, Sabre 27, Cutlass 27, Tomohawk 25, etc), & moulded hulls for Moodys, Rival Yachts [Southern Boatbuilders], & C & N too.
We also moulded the Fantome's for Fairy Marine, all done at Woolston (Hazel Road), shed now a ruin.
The first fit out of Miss Delson (Yellow & Orange) used lots of sailboat fittings I issued to Ken from my store of sailboat parts, as, like everything in those days, it was a last minute job !
Boat was then re-modelled & painted Blue & Yellow, & in those colours won the Beaverbrook Trophy for the first cruising boat home in the CTC Race !

Dad was good friends with Brian Jardine and we spent many an afternoon at his car lot in Poulton. Dad purchased Brians old Corniche Express which had twin straight six Mercruisers. Brian ordered the new Slipstream boat from the factory, twin V8s. Both boats were moored on the river Wyre, Skippool Creek. We installed triple Solex carbs on the six's and we took it to Windermere , must have been around 74. I can remember being in the parking area hammering on props. He sold it soon after and purchased Blitz from John Davey.

From the archives - Miss Delson & Jardine`s Corniche.
Can you remember Mike when Bryan ordered his new Corniche.
1973 - Marshmallow -Colin McKaskill
1975 - Elf Slipstream - Vic Jenkinson
1976 - Slipstream - Bryan Jardine
1977 - Total Heat - Bryan Jardine
1979/80 - Slipstream - Bryan Jardine
I thought the above was the same boat, but sounds as if it wasn`t.

Slipsteam & Miss Delson
I remember Brian Jardine - I assume he is no longer with us ???
He was always very ready to talk, & as my father was of Lancashire stock, we had a sort of link.
I last remember him at Cowes quite some years ago.
I only remember the boat as being yellow, No.433, & yes, he was always an early arrival at Cowes, I think.
My belated comments re Invader boats are due to my only just having seen TBC's comments re the boat. I was, in a small way, involved with it, just after it was built, & when Ken Raybould was fitting her out in our yard.
There was a post that suggested that Slipstream & Miss Delson were of the same design !!! Obviously not so - Miss Delson being Ken Raybould's design, built by Invader Boats, which was actually Marine Construction Ltd. in So'ton.

I think it must have been late 74/ early 75. I can recall being in the boat for the first test with Brian and dad. Don,t know where it was but it was on a river, seem to remember lots of small cruisers and maybe even a river boat, there wasn't many places we could open her up, maybe somewhere near the factory??. I was 14. Dad was on the boat in the 75 Cowes.
