London Boat Show

Anyone been this year?
Any good points to see?
Any bad points to avoid?

Anything else to add?

Keanaz
P.S. thinking of going Thursday night - late night opening

I thought it was ok, but I had a mission planned and knew what I wanted to see. Thinking of going again if I get a chance.

Venture Cup are holding a casual get-together of powerboat racers on their stand (G310) on this Saturday (11th) from 1130 on. The stand is at the back of the hall between Princess and Fairline. All are welcome!

As a show, it was shocking. Only one hall now and half of that is furniture and crap. The Guinness bar is larger than most stands.

It really is piss poor for £20 entry.

If you want clothing or to book a sailing holiday, or buy a shiny bit of dangly brass work for your trawler, then go. Else there is very little else to see, other than the usual sunseeker, princess and fairlines family viewing boats. Why they have two exhibitors selling dining room furniture at a boat show is beyond me. You could honestly go round the whole thing in 30 minutes, 20 of which will be spent drooling over the Riva as ever, because half of it will be irrelevant to you and as renegade says it's only one hall, and only half of it has boats, and of that the above there take up a third of that half.

and I bet you still wouldn't be able to book a stand if you wanted (probably cost a bomb as well).

Please could I ask who/what Marathon boats are ? are they a sales organisation. Picked up their card, as no-one around.
Many thanks

Marathon boats are boats that race marathon class, the card you may have could be about the New boat that was on their stand. Some of the guys on that stand are dealers for them. The large Italian boat not the predator boat, although I could be wrong there.

Aargh ! the large boat is an ex P1 boat I think ?
I guess Marathon Boats Ltd, out of Guernsey, are dealers for the Italian manufacturers ? There was also a property interior designer's details on the stand - all very strange !!!

No it's not a p1 boat, I asked that. Marathon boats the company is a dealer sorry I thought you meant as in the race class.

'Marathon Boats' as a 'company', are on the stand alongside us and are run by Richard Carlton and Graham Manchester. The boat is a beautiful evolution of Metamarine's former P1 evolution racer. From what I understand, we could have two of these boats racing in June with us.
