London to Monte-Carlo record broken

Chris Strickland and Gordon Compton have broken the London to Monte-Carlo record in their Yanmar powered 10m Scorpion cabin rib 'Seahound'.

It took them 61 hours & 11 minutes to cover the 2300 odd miles, averaging just over 39mph.

They've taken it from Hannes Bohinc who got it in his 80' Buzzi 'Record'

This is, as I'm sure many will appreciate, and outstanding acheivement.

Well done guys

Jan Falkowski and John Puddifoot were also part of the crew.

Quite an achievement, definately one that will be hard to beat.

Fantastic achievement by all involved. Proves the Mad British Bulldog spirit is functioning properly and care in the comunity policy is eventually producing results.

By the way how much are the marina fees for a 10m rib in Monaco?

Hey "Shrink", Sam says you should develope a Platstation game based on powerboat races and records! Because your rallying and car driving skills suck according to a "just 9 year old"!

Seriously well done all.

PS Aren't speed records set on an average time both ways? I mean its uphill on the way back & Towerbridge is far more glamorous finishing point!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The yacht club in Monaco were incredibly generous, a waiter brought us champagne when we arrived and they allowed us to leave the boat on thier pontoon outside the club for the weekend.
The record can be done in either direction. 'top'speed records , like records week at Coniston are done on a two way average to control for wind/tide etc.
Does anyone know of a powerboat racing playstation game?
