Marshan First boat
I've been looking for a boat to have a a bit of fun with, fish from and get about to some free diving spots.
I found this Marshan 162 and have been working on it for a week. I've put some new dlooring in, resparayed the deck, made my own seats and interior panels and went out in it for the first time yesterday.
Was great, handled verywell indeed (something I did find in the research) and seemed to push on well with the mariner 60. Caught a few macky too.
Here are a few pic's of the work when I started stripping things down.
If anyones got any info on the Marshan I have found very little info on them.
I'll post up some more pic's of the build and some shots of the finished bits so far if you want.
I have one little problem I hope someone can help me with (I may add it in another area too?)
The tilt and trim was not working when I got it, I've cleaned up the in-boat motor/pump and traced all the wires. Rigged it up, nothing, switch wasnt working! Tried just the wires and the motor is running fine. I,ve started to fill through the filler (I think) the brass looking stopper you can see. Not alot goes in and there is no movement. I think there is just no oil in the system (motor/pump was off the boat).
Number on piston is 92193, if that helps.
Can someone give me some tips on how to get it working, filling it up, filling the pistons? checking more wires? Fitting the oil lines? (I've done one side on the left thick n thin and the other sides all on the right, if you see what I mean) There is the twist button to engage and disengage too? Will need a new switch also
The engine is a mariner 60 3 cylinder number 9436112 (any info on this motor or tips to lookafter it would be greatfully recieved also.
Here are some pics
Thanks all, It's my first boat, enjoying it already, the work and the play, just like to get the tilt and trim running too.

Hi, and congratulations on your purchase!
If I recall correctly, you need to be filling the reservoir through the hole circled below. The pump needs to be the right way up, as in the picture with the hoses at the bottom. I can't remember which was that twist button has to be, a bit of trial and error will solve that!
I've only ever seen one of these pumps before, so I'm not sure if it's supposed to be self bleeding, but it worked on the one I did! All you should need to do is run the trim all the way up and all the way down several times, keeping an eye on fluid level, till it's moving as desired.
Hopefully that'll work, if not you may have some other issue, or my advice may be totally wrong! Either way, there's plenty of people on here who can answer any question!
All the best,
James

Thanks for the tip James, no circled pic though mate?
I'm not sure if I'm trimming up or down at the moment but two wires together makes the pump run and another two make it run, so up and down, one or the other! Switch doesnt seem to work you see.
Yes, I hope I can get it working, its the last thing on the list really.

Few gauges were here sometime?
Floor was'nt too good so replaced it, side panel too while I had it all off.
Ready for some paint.
Then over a couple of evenings I was on my grans sewing machine, my wife thought it was very funny!ha
Designed and made made my own seats, so have to cover them with something.
Tilt n trim is starting to work to now, just a switch needed and should be out on the water Thursday! Cheers for the help.

Dont think so, but your right on a project. I wanted a good sea boat and looked for ages, down here in Cornwall they are expensive, took a while to find a project boat that was any good.

Ahh he's coming along well!! Give it a year or so and he'll be buying boats far beyond his means in appauling condition then struggling like mad to rebuild them to a totally ott level of finish!
Funny, I've met someone like that before...
Good on ya mate, I find building it yourself the most satisfying thing ever.

You've got it,
Enjoying the build and looking forward to taking it out maybe tomorrow.
PM sent Gary, lived in Falmouth for a while, fair few pasty shops!ha
Here are a few more.
I'm going to need to anchor it so thinking on what to do for fixings, maybe plate at the nose (big plate beneath) and an eye and roller? Dont want to ruin the look up front though?? dont know any ideas welcome.
I may just get some pic's up of the finished interior next.

You won't want an anchor fitted to the bow - it may upset the balance - a boat like that you can carry an anchor under the rear seat, tie it onto the bow eye and lob it over the side when needed.

Thats what I intended doing till I had sorting something, it lives under a floor panel at the mo, will stay there now.
Thanks for the tip.
Got the cleats on the go today and a bit more trim done, weather was against a play though, and the tilt/trim playing up.
Will be sorted soon, want to get out this weekend.

If you get a length of rope with a shackle on the end,
tie one end off in the cockpit then run the anchor line through the shackle on the other end,
you can then retrieve your anchor without having to climb up front and reach over the bow

Thanks for the report, I'm after more stuff just like that, pictures too of them racing would be good and any other members that have one.
Like the idea with the rope, thanks Andy.
Hoping to get out Sunday so watch out for some pic's then.

Here's a few pic's of the boat out of the workshop.
Tried to go for a bit of a retro look with the family race number thrown in. (think it would have been a class A boat in the day?).
Interior is not so racey (took the two buckets out) due to what we are using it for, retro comfy really. I trimmed the back of the front bench so that the rear bootom section could be fitted either facing the front at the back or facing back for spotting.
Done a few other bits here and there which I'll post some pic's up off next time.
