merc 2.4 efi can anyone help
hi there i have found a phantom with a 2.4 merc on it i like.im not sure how old the engine is but it hasnt been out for a run 4 8 months, the guy says it runs lumpy on tick over is this normal for the bridgeport engine or would u lot say stay away if i dont want 2 rebuild it?and are these engines any good? its on a phantom 18. thanks matt

All BP's run lumpy at idle, they're a good motor for what they are, sooner or later they all pop. Mine turned itself into a V4 last weekend.
They're old engines now, stopped making them in 1990.
Should push a P18 well, depends on the money, if the price is right then personally I'd go for it subject to a test run! But I have a thing for the 2.4 litres!
Then again I have four of them in boxes, you think I would have learnt by now!

Been runnin two off them,dogs bollocks,all me mates crap themselves when i clog it,loads off spares readily avaiable cheap,can give you loads of phone nos,if you have probs with yours,a newish opti you will be into 4/5k a 2.4 around 2k ish,your shout,if it pops,you wont get stung when fixing it depending who you know.

thats always good 2 know. if goes pop is that 2k 4 a powerhead??im not sure im im havin another ebay moment and gota buy something haha.wots the difference with the 2.4 and 2.5 and also xr2 thanks matt

Think it was up for 4k a few weeks ago, last week was down to offers under 2k and the seller was a boat sales place. Looks like the guy on Ebay bought it who happens to be another dealer, he can't get it running so trying to offload it on Ebay.
Would I buy it would I fook. I reckon it's a piece of junk, save your money and buy something that runs.

was only thinkin of getting it if was cheap coz know it will need alot of work 2 get her right and as steve says it not a genuine phantom. i think the bloke is a dealer so thought best ask u guys about it coz its on ebay.
