According to a merc chief engineer, some german guy for Porsche working on the verado project, he states in powerboatmag, that the two strokes would be out of production in 5-8 years...

The 4 strokes need to take another leap forward first to DFI. It's not far off, already some cars have it. Once this is achieved the writing will be on the wall, 2 strokes "probably" don't have another technological leap to make to keep pace.

Just wait till they put catalysts on em!

Claus Bruestle is the VP of R&D how long he will be around is anybodys guess
Kor aint the internet great look what I found, he got caught D & D

Claus Bruestle appeals from judgments finding him guilty of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) contrary to Wis. Stat. § 346.63(1)(a) and guilty of operating a motor vehicle with a prohibited alcohol content (PAC) contrary to § 346.63(1)(b). The issue before this court is whether the arresting officer used reasonable means to convey the implied consent warnings set forth in Wis. Stat. § 343.305(4). We agree with the circuit court that the arresting officer reasonably conveyed the implied consent warnings and affirm the judgments.

FACTS

. On October 19, 2003, Bruestle was driving northbound on U.S. Highway 41 in Fond du Lac county. At 1:24 a.m., Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper Luke Newman stopped Bruestle because he was traveling approximately 86 miles per hour, considerably faster than the posted speed limit. Newman approached the vehicle and asked Bruestle for his driver's license. Bruestle handed the license to him without hesitation or objection. Newman detected an odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle and noted that Bruestle's eyes were "red and glassy." Additionally, Newman noted that Bruestle spoke with a slight German accent; however, Bruestle responded in English to Newman's comments and questions regarding the reason for the traffic stop. Newman decided to have Bruestle perform various field sobriety tests and asked him to step out of his vehicle. Again, Bruestle did so without hesitation. Additionally, at no time during this initial conversation did Bruestle indicate that he could not speak English or that he was having trouble understanding Newman's directions.

This goes on for four more pages Yawn !!!!!

I dont know I'm no engineer, I was only going by what he said when a group of us were talking about it we thought in might be that simple. I guess if your in the know with the right equipment it may be that simple but is anything to do with boats ever that simple

I bought a smart car.

It was the cheap version of the smart car, with all the fancy bits from Bramus stuck on it, but the cheap engine.

I took it to a smart shop, and they plugged in a computer thing, and in 12 seconds I had a Bramus engine smart.

Aparently there is no difference between the three engine ranges, and you can turn any one into any of the others, or even go over the existing ranges...

( marc )

I got it for free, as the bloke was a mate of mine. I believe it goes for 120 plus VAT for a 'standard' mapping.

You can also request customised mappings.

Aparently well worth it anyway. Better gear change, better drivability.

If someone like Brucato was to offer a PCU or a remap for the Verado that would be interesting.

The technology for re-mapping is very simple. All engines are 'de-tuned' to make allowances for dodgy petrol and poor maintenance etc etc.

If you can assure your quality of petrol, and theat you will maintain the components correctly, then you can very safely mess with the performance figures. A starting point is just to download the existing map, and tweek it 10% and upload it. Stuff like maxing out the mixture, changing ignition timings etc add a huge amount to the performance.

( most ECU's can retard the ignition if they detect pinking, but are set so they never should get pinking. If you reset the ignition say for a 98 octane you can get 15% performance over the standard mapping set for 90 octane. )
