Question Motor upgrade?? :-S

Hello I own a fonder 15 with a mariner 75 on the back.
The boat is called midnight mover I think it might off been raced in the past because I can see the faded name in big letters down the side like just like the ring 16’s that were raced.
I have loved every trip out in my boat this season and am wondering weather I should up grade to a Mercury 90 on the back? (Want to go faster) There is one for sale locally and I no it is becoming harder and harder to find 2 stroke motors these days after they ended production.
The motor for sale is a 1998 90 Mercury long shaft just had a full service and hard wearing parts replaced he wants 1800 for it not knowing much about motors was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on this price/ age of motor or things I should look out fore don’t want to trade in my 75 and end up with a tired 90.

Any thought would be helpful
Cheers Charlie.

Morning Charlie

you need a short shaft mate, though i'd assume you could put the 90 powerhead on your 75 shortshaft leg. As far as i know the powerheads are the same, the differences being the carbs etc?
Someone else on here will know more...
