mph or knots & bow tank grief.

Are the white mercury speedos in knots or mph. Also i have been trying to get my ballast bow tank not to fill ,every time i am at a decent speed for a while it seems to fill right up and start dumping out of the breather so my passengers and i get a proper soaking .I seem to have tried every position on the lever under the sun.Foreward is right up and back is right down(picking water up i presume)or am i doing it all wrong(as usual according to the over alf) thanks Nick.

Send a message via Skype™ to ciao!
Fill the tank up with a hose when the boat is on a trailer.

You should then learn how to "dump".

it could be that your pick up is mounted too low and therefore always picking up. you should be able to see the pick up mounted on the transom just get someone to operate the lever whilst you watch and see which way is up

The pick up is mounted on the transom about level with the bottom of the boat when i have the lever fully foreward the pick up is up ,is this closed or dumping as even when it is fully foreward it seems to still be picking up and fireing it out of the breather this only happens when i have been going at a reasonable speed for a while or does it take a while to stop.Or maybe i have to find the exact place for the lever to dump the water.

it sounds like its too low to me. you really want the pick up to be just below the bottom when its fully down, this should make it about an 1" above when fully up. have you got a seperate drain outlet or is it combined?? most phantoms had a seperate drain, look by the bung in the bottom of the transom have you got what looks like a plug hole???

By the way just found your p21 on readers rides Very nice!Could you tell me where can i get some decent seats,i need a decent bit of padding(got sciatica) or a trim specialist, think i am going to retrim the whole thing at the end of this season, will probably change a few other things whilst boat is gutted, any tips? plus would trim tabs stop the boat chine walking as it starts to do this at high speed?.Thanks Nick.

I'm pretty sure that the combined pick up and dumps are back for fill middle for hold and forward to dump. it does sound though that its mounted too low. any chance of a picture of the transom so i can see???
I got my seats from Holland (Sterling on here) they made the front seats and retrimmed the rest of my interior whilst i waited!! Tony Davis will be able to name some decent upholsterers in the UK and i know Gav has some seat molds similer to the ones i had if you are interested i can ask him a price for 2 moldings if you like??
