Yes................ but that 21 will still see near 70mph, which for a pleasure boat is quite reasonable.
I'd be happy in my knowledge I own "new-tech" and can go out & do 68mph all day for £60 than own a 2.4 thats donkeys years old and pay treble the cost to perhaps do 70-75mph

Recent engine on this 21, although the boat looks alittle older,

I would take the graphics off and it would probably look better.

My main reason for getting a hardboard is because I want speed.
My current rib does 50mph... so want something that has a noticable difference... that last one says it does 60 mph... its a 200hp engine... why would the optimax 200hp do 70?
If both engines output 200hp Im guessing its down to weight of boat+engine and the prop size?
Or am I missing something?

People often believe their boats are faster than they really are. Cheap speedos typically read 15% over. Or as their known on boatmad, Searay speedos.
ie Read 70, actually doing 61. They all seem overread by about the same, so it's gotta be a "fix", but hey, my formula's a 70 mph boat, I've seen it on the speedo.

hehe, understood.
I've measured mine via my garmin gps... seems to be fairly accurate. - 43.1 knots.. not bad for what I have probably another couple of knots there.. maybe.
What speed will a phantom 21 do realisticly with a 200hp?

A well setup standard built P21 with a 200 on the back will do 65mph, 70 seems a bit in dream land

he told me 68MPH max but thats a race boat with a bullet box and no back seat trim carpet etc. so 65 for a standard boat is about right

Just for the record, the bullet box, IMHO will make no difference whatsoever to top speed with a sub 80mph boat. Except maybe in giving the opportunity to run higher coz of the LWP.

but running higher means less geargase in the water which means less drag which means more speed?

Yes, but my point is, that the pointed lower is in itself, no advantage unless you're goin fkkn quick anyways. Even if they do look sexy.
Aren't the regular style lowers available with LWP's now anyway?
