Crate engines are an excellent way to go, if you have existing packages with busted motors. otherwise, it's a crap idea as the parts needed to make them into a marine engine, together with drives, transoms, pumps etc, would cost you a fortune.

The cheapest option, unless you can find some good secondhand, would be a pair of Merc 496's, on Bravo 1's, but not with ''a deep leg'' !!!!!!!!! Std or slightly raised X height would be fine! You can probably source them in the States for not a lot of $$$$$$'s.

Thats a good point Tony,I had forgotten that Dictator has no donor engines.496's would be a good package but I suspect that Dictator will not want to pay new prices, all i can suggest is have a look on offshoreonly.com this will give you an idea of whats about but its very much a case of buyer beware, you could end up getting a 'bargain' only for the undiscovered faults to end up costing a fortune to repair over here.

I may be wrong but I get the impression it's going to end up with something like this in it

http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/view/F124423

In all fairness that would be alright I suppose if the engines and drives were rebuilt top to bottom and suitably tuned for performance, but won't ever do the boat justice.

But surely this warrants a pair of bravo 1's and matching with a pair of suitably worked 454 or better still 502's

3 grand a pop for the bravos including shields and about 5 grand per side for a worked engine with holleys or similar running exhaust through hub?

Do that and you have the upgrade route sorted as and when with headers, superchargers etc

Thought you didn't want to spend any money! By the time you've done all that, you'll still have a load of ancient old shite, and will have spent almost as much as sourcing some cheap new (waranteed) Engine/Drive packages.

This all sounds like 'talk is cheap' to me.

My money says 'Shogun Star' will continue to clutter up the Solent powered by various scrap outboards until you run out (of scrap outboards) and move on.

Not me pal, never been on the site, cant stand RIBS of any sort.

What amazes me is why anyone would by a boat like Shogun and run it around the Solent like a displacement boat with a clip-on on the back?

Ive watched you pass my local a couple of times this summer and quite frankly it just aint right.

Shogun should be put back to her former glory by someone with a passion for boats and the pockets to do it. If your talking about mixing petrols and diesels you aint the right owner for this boat.

If what other people have posted previously about you on this thread is true, you appear to be a river rat eeking out a living in the Marine Industry by ripping people off. I dont think the industry needs any more shysters as there are plenty at present.

Sort Shogun out properly or sell her to someone who can so she is not lost to the boat scrapyard in the sky.

What do you propose to do about it? Raise the subscription or do you think they should only take applications from the right schools or county regiments?
