rule 312-11 UIM 2012 curcuit rules-passing marks
"when trying to overtake a boat on the inside, the driver must anticipate the possible direction of the boat he is trying to overtake, and must take all necessary actions to avoid collision"
reading this and watching the replay would this rule then not apply?

Is this Zapcat racing? According to PB1 2012, F47(e) "a boat being overtaken must not deliberately alter its course in any way that would hinder the overtaking boat, once an overlap has been established."
The blue boat must have been aware that the black boat was on the inside, with an overlap, and should have let them take the inside line around the buoy

i know you get the red mist and all that but go for a gap thats not there and put yourself out of the race, who cares who's right or wrong the guy in third must be laughing his socks off !
(anyone know who won ? was it the guy in third)

565.32 - OVERLAP
I. If overtaking on the inside an overlap is only established when two boats are approximately on the same course, and the boats are parallel to each other.
II. When overtaking from the outside an overlap is established when the overtaking boat has passed the overtaken boat sufficiently to change direction without contact.
III. The lead boat has the right of way until an overlap is established.
IV. A safe overlap is the responsibility of the overtaking boat.
V. An overlap can occur from left or right.
VI. An overlap may not be established on the inside of the actual race course.
565.33 – OVERTAKING
An overtaking boat shall keep clear of the boat that is being overtaken

Although looking at that 565.32 I'd say the inside overlap was established legally

Its not exactly clear really but assuming most boats in a race should be heading in the same direction. Im assuming they mean running level.

Folks - this was an incident from last Saturday at our national P750 Thundercat Championships over here in Ireland. Blue boat was DQ'd from that heat ....which was then protested ....original decision upheld by race jury ....blue crew now going to appeal to National Authority. Possibly best to let the matter run its course

Just back from Infirmary after giving myself oxygen...
Some of these people crack me up! Never raced a boat in their lives, never saw nevermind read a rule book in their lives, never seen a race in the flesh, never took their own cat out in anything more than a F2, but know it all from lookin at pictures on Facebook, and quoting a single line from a rule book, that obviously someone must have sent to them in a message on Facebook!

zapcats
most of the zapcat footage ive seen, the drivers always race bunched up and seem to want to go over each other rather than round, how many posts have we seen on here when boats are on top of each other and props and skegs just missing heads, maybe stretch out the coarses a bit and give them more time to get to markers etc, just my 5 ps worth  bumperboats, they wouldnt be that bunched up if they were hard bottom/ real boats, he he

had the door shut on me many times by drivers. rule or not i alwayse allowed the inside boat right of way, even if it was to my detrement and anyone i have navi'd for will back me up.
By allowing the insde boat right of way on a turn and outside boat holding its course i feel it minimises incidents like this.
