I'm a great beleiver that after a certain age say 5-10 years........boats, outboards etc have a worth entirely dependent on their condition.

I also dont subrscribe to paying a premium for stuff thats in vogue.

........as discussed with Matt over the weekend, the pattern of demand/ price for XR2's & relevant parts over the past years is an excellent example

from what I can tell,

When the 2.0L merc was disscontinued people were forced to change over to an XS (or similar) to race..... thus initially those teams still running an XR2 had plentifull supply of used p/heads, parts & motors.

Seemingly, some teams are happy to stick with the XR2 so 'GOOD' parts have now started to dry-up as have unbasterised engines so consiquently 'GOOD' ones are fetching relatively decent money.

Now, I expect to be shot down for that!

you have to appreciate my use of the word 'GOOD'. Thats usually the stumbling block when people are defineing thier engines!!
