Just seen this on ebay. Looks more like a P18 to me.
Graham.

Looks like an 18exl which are 19ft I think, appears to still be yellow on the bottom of the screen making it look shallower than a phantom's.

Hi to all,
As this is my first post i don't intend to upset anyone but the pictures are of an P18 & not P21, On the old P21 the rear of the deck was more like the P25 & the sides of the hull are flat the same as a P18 & not like the P21 that has a horizontal line running down the length of the hull.

Just to let you know i used to work for a Mr Baker of Sittingbourne & from what i can remember made a few boats, I think he called them Phantoms

Thanks for that, i only came across the forum by accident when looking for something else (no it was not porn) it seems strange how you all go on about the old phantoms as i had about 8 years with Steve building them i think its a case of seen one seen them all. nice to see some of the pictures of the old ones though .

Hi sean, welcome to boatmad.

What is your surname? I'ver just been chatting to Steve (Baker) on the phone, and apparently there have been a several 'Seans' at Phantom over the 30 odd years, so he wondered which one you were.

PS. I think it is a Mk1 P21 BTW

Here are some pics of the Mk1 P21 (from the 70's) Obviously Steve Bournes one 'Poco Homes' is a tandem deck. As you can see, much more forefoot than a P18, though the deck details are very 'P18' in their style, including the recess in the sides of the foredeck and the topside as you say, like the P18 it doesn't have the crease along it like the later 21, 23, 25, 28 and 31, though the topsides are far more upright than the 18.

Sean.

Sean, OK, so 'Seamus' was Dereks nickname for you..correct?

Chatting to Steve, he describes you as a "Good worker, with common sense".

You were obviously unique to the boatbuilding industry!

As I said, welcome to Boatmad.

Here's ya mate Derek chucking the very first drop of gel into my boat, February 1999

Jon i don't know if to take that as a compliment or not, I will need to have a word Mr B.

You should hold on to that photo its worth millions not every day you would catch Del working.

As for the nickname i cant really remember were that came from just one of Del's ideas.

Sean. or in Phantom style Seamus.
