That was a (green hulled) Hunton 23 fitted with twin Merc 260hp engines. Raced by Tom something or other in 1982/83. I should remember his name as I scattered his ashes on the Solent in 1986!! The boat was called Deep Fresh (a Unilever Product), we used to call it Fem Fresh!! Raced in Cruiser B and very fast on a calm day. I will ask Jeff Hunton for more details and come back as he used to drive it sometimes. It did do the Putney/Calais/London in 1982 and I think won it's class but will confirm.....

Brighton 1982. tonights question----Did it sink or did they save it???????????? or [/QUOTE]

I was in the queue for the crane in Brighton when they dragged that Hunton in, as pictured only just floating. They quickly managed to manoeuvre it in position over the lifting slings but the weight of water meant that it couldn't be lifted on to it's trailer. The crane managed to get the boat just high enough for the water to run out of the very large hole in the side and hold it there until it was light enough.

Last time I saw it was Ramsgate on the old hovercraft slip, Cross Channel Champage Race, OPC, Cancelled due to Fog. Year.............( can I phone a friend or ask the audience) looked a little less crisp as it was in RB-69 and could have used a re-rig - tidy. Tim knows more by the looks of it but cant say.
