phantom 18 something similar

Don't have much luck with boating however decided I dont want my jet ski anymore and would like another boat. A mate has offered me a p18 an all I would have to do Is source engine an steering

I have two requirements though. I want it to be able to tow a skier and be light enough to have no brakes in the trailer. I had a ring 16 before many years ago I could push around easily so looking for a similar setup. Was thinking of pitting a yam 115 on it and wondering what sort of weight it would come in at
Any help/ advice is more than welcome
Thanks
Chris

I "think" the legal gross weight without brakes is 750kgs or half the tow vehicle weight whichever is the lightest.
You could always get a trailer built from ali which would allow a few more kg's on the hull/engine etc (or just take out the shoes )
Dont know about the other bits though

Pretty sure your right. I know that smaller boats that I've owned such as little Fletchers, a rib an a ring 16 didn't need the brakes
Feeling I'll have to have a play with it on a weigh bridge. Just didn't know how heavy Yamaha 115's come in at.

On another note, how's things with you? Any luck on the sale of yours?

Weight of a Yam. 115hp

Hi, if you are looking at a V4, 115hp, two stroke Yammy, the long shaft, 20" AETO model is quoted @158kg, same as a 140hp.

The boat you have sounds just what I'm after, as is the interest in air chairs to! Digressing alot here but always fancied one! Are they hard to ride?

Thumbs up Airchair

Easy, like a bicycle once you have learnt. Best to start with a solid boom on the boat so you have a solid to hold onto and learn the sensitive balance and weight change effects, then try a standard deep V ski rope. Out of the hole effort and 20-25knt cruising speed dramatically reduce fuel bills and body fatigue. Had mine since inventor Mike Murfy`s demo at Thorpe park in the mid 90`s.

Why do you not want to have brakes on the trailer ?

For your info - my Ring 16 D with Johnson 115 Faststrike on twin axle trailer weighs 883 Kg's. My cruising area (Weymouth) has particularly keen police that often spot check boat trailers. - Happy hunting

That is very helpful thank you
Also very much like your boat.
Basically I have done my towing test etc but my partner hasn't. Plus braked trailers are alot of hassle that unbraked. 100kgs would be alot to loose from your setup however imagine the extra axle helps considerably

How much does a bare 18 weigh then?
It was literally going to be two seats and a steering wheel.
If I could get the hull to come in at 400 I would be closE
Its that or get another little rib!

Saw that one nic, but already have the hull. I am keeping my eye on it though as jetski sold today so depending on price could just have the motor off it
