Phantom 23 new project

Picked this up last Saturday, as you can see from the photos it needs a fair bit of work doing to the boat to make it look as good as new hopefully?? Brought the boat with no ECU and cowling but have located replacements.

Nice one,
Don't look like it needs too much work, are you planning a complete re-spray..? what engine does it have..? how much did you pay for it..? interesting winter project..!

hopefully it might not need any paint ? on the other hand it dose need a complete re-trim as you can see in the photos ? the engine is a 225 pro max merc and also the bottom of the boat has been anti-fowled so if any one on the forum can tell me how to remove the anti-fowl please let me know and the boat also needs a really good clean and mopping ?

International Interstrip is excellent. Two litres was enough for a 21' Ring and that included a transom that had been painted from the rubbing strip to the drain plug. Came up beautifully afterwards.

The 23ft is one of my favorite boats and quite rare now. Those extra couple of feet over the 18 and the 21 seem to make quite a difference in the rough. A friend of mine had a 23ft with a 225 and it seemed a very good combination and didn't break the bank to run. Good luck with your new project.

Is there a product that i could use for the bottom of my hull, basically i bought this boat recently and it had been left in the water for a long time (not antifouled) and there is loads of crap on it, not so much barnicle growth but some worm kind of growth which has gone hard. I don't want to scrape it in fear of damaging the paintwork although i'm planning a re paint job long term. I'm looking for a short term solution to get this crap off now just so i can give this boat of mine a good clean up.
Cheers
Mark

hi andy yes the boat did come from near littlehampton and it dose need some tlc? and thanks puttputt i checked out with international tech services and they said that you have to apply the stripper and leave it on for about 40 mins and cover the stripper with clean film to keep it wet and it will still take quite a lot of elbow grease yo re move the anti fowl is that what you had to do ?? thanks for any other comments and this subject all will be appreciated

Try a steam cleaner or hot water pressure washer turned right down to start with- somewhere out of sight. Failing that a phosphoric acid based cleaner diluted 10:1 with water, again somewhere out of sight. If you mix it too strong it will etch the paint so be careful and prepare to rinse with lots of water.

I did mine in December 2008 so if the formula has changed do as they recommend. I tried it in an inconspicuous spot underneath during freezing conditions outside. There were three layers of paint to remove, one primer and two anti-fouls and it did so with ease. Cleaned up well with some acetone.

Redhead 01 would be interesting to speak to (driver 510) i will pm him my details
and see if he would give me a quote to re trim my p23 thanks for the info??
Puttputt will give the steam cleaner a try but will have to come up with an idea of how to turn the boat over to make it easier to clean up the bottom then can start to sort out the deck and interior ?
Have also started to strip the deck fittings off the boat and started to remove the trim and seats will post some more photos of the progress later
