Smile phantom 25...25 inch or 20 inch motor?

hi guys

need some advice

I have a p 25 ...I have an Evinrude 250 ho that I had on another boat which Im gonna mount on the back.....now the transom of the p25 is 25 inches and the motor also 25 inches ...I know a friend of mine and he swears by a 20 inch for her....he says the handling is much better and faster....he also says 20 inch sits much lower than the 25 inch avoiding a pendulum affect in control from height ...

can any of you p 25 guys get back to me on all this plz

cheers guys

P25

here is a P25 with a 20 leg 225 evinrude
I've another picture with a P25 with a 2.4EFI 20 leg racing application
Using a 25leg on a 25 transom generate a lot of drag, so loss of top speed
Rising a 25 leg on a 25 transom to reduce drag leads to put the powerhead COG higher and you loose a bit in stability
But with your 25 transom and a 20 leg you should be a bit high if you use the boat for leisure and need a good hole shot heavily loaded, so a 4inches setback or a 4inches jack plates should be the solution if you want to go for the 20leg.

thanks guy for the quick reply

so even bolting the motor high on the transom would still not be enough to prevent drag?

if not would I lose a lot of stability?beacuase of C.O.G

if so then so I have these options.

1.look for a 20 inch mide section and leg

2. or sell my motor and look of a 20 inch

3. I also have a manual 5 inch OCM manual lift and a brand new 5 inch Bobs machine shop boxed

4.i also have a freind who has a 20 inch Evinrude 250 (not h.o) And has had problems with power head ,...I was thinking of buying it and swapping around power heads but I don know that my (250 HO) had a different ratio gearbox so don't know how that will affect powerhead swap from 250 HO to normal 250 ETEC

thanks again guys

all advice welcomed
