Phantom 25 and it appears to be a genuine one. Steve used extruded ali deck stiffeners quite a bit in the 80s, mainly on racing boats. It's actually the toe rail extrusion used on sailing boat gunnels.
Is there a HIN on the right side of the transom? if so, what is it?

If it's the same as P21's it'll be just below the bump strip on the driver's side of the transom. There's a "sticky" thread in the Technical Q&A Section which will allow you to decipher the HIN and find the boats age.

As i said, its been painted white so the numbers are not so easy to read but having had a closer look i think it is 87 02 04 and it was originally Red.
No, sorry, no history. so we now think it's a February '87 build.
Are there any signs that it may have had twin motors in the past? It has a few halmarks of being a 4 litre class III boat, ie, the ali deck rails, engine well cowling etc, which would have most likely had a pair of 150s/XR2's back then. Some were built with single V8 Johnnyrudes, but not many, and I don't *think* any raced like that, mebbe Johnny Blufin could fill in there.

Having a think now if red is the gel. up to 87 the only IID red one was london & manchester but that was a lot earlier on the HIN number. unless it was a ski rig, thought pretty much of the non tandum decks were white or black very few reds side by side.
Drivers Whalf Yeh a little bit like it..................................

It used to be very common for the Yanks to bring boats over here, to race at the Needles & Cowes races, or in Europe, then sell them here, rather than ship them back to the States.

The hull is finished in White Gel-Coat with only the deck and transom being painted white. I would guess that this was done at the same time that she was changed from twin engines to a single installation. The Interior seating appears to be original and in good condition and the hull appears to be ok apart from some minor gelcoat damage.
I would have thought that the Hull would be good due to the comparitively calm sea conditions here, coupled with the warm climate.
I still need to locate the owner to see if its for sale and to get a closer look at it. Id very much like to bring her back to the UK when i return and put her back together again.
What if anything goes wrong with the P25's? What should i look out for?
What would be the best pair of motors to fit her with and what performance figures could be expected?
