Steve the reason I was laughing so much was that as steffy boy past us his sun deck flew open and he just kept going till rich flagged him down ,and the quote we got later from him was “ I was going so fast past your fantoom’s that I had to apply the Bugatti Veyron air break ( ring sun deck) to slow me down.
Nadine drove well I have some very big bruises to prove it lol I think she wants a phantom now.
It was good to see you Saturday for the launch ,and we hope to see you out in your 25 soon

Just been to Torquay and Cowes with COPOC, met the best, given me great advice and i am totally commited, or should that be, I should be commited, to getting her right. there aren't many left and we need to look after them, and i'll do my best. getting divorced so nothing to hold me back - she's the new lady in my life, and may well still turn out to be less expensive than the previous one!! Now that WAS expensive. Nuff said. I will start posting some pics soon, just had quote today for engine rebuild- ho hum, better have another scotch to lessen the pain. cheers.

Hi Nick.

Could you not get a second hand jag lump? Also, I love the boat more than the ex, and it's not embarrassing to be out with the boat! He he he.

Good luck!

it is a second hand lump - jag, e-type 4.2, ( right for the age of boat) but to get the boat right for next seasons racing, best its rebuilt and all done proper, as we do say down ere. This restoration will be done to the best of my ability, and depending on funds available, will take as long as it needs to get it right. She was originally run with a rover v8, i believe for two years, then sold on, presumably jag engine fitted as the rover cranks were not up to it. i willnot be going right back to the start with a rover, as clearly that isn't a reliable option, the next option being the jag, which is still right for the age of boat 1972. How far do you go in restoring a boat to originality/reliability? difficult. i think you need to keep the originality as much as possible, but functionality, practicality and reliability must come into the equation if you are to compete in modern racing. its the same problem with classic cars, fo r example if racing an e-type should you have uprated the brakes and fitted electronic ignition? i think that depends on the owners mind set to originality. look at Cinzano, Uno Embassy etc etc etc. all i can say is that i will do my best to keep her looking right as the 1972 racer she was, but she will probably have a few more modern evolutionary features, but kept to a minimum.
