phantom 28 for sale

hi all
i was talking to a guy today who is selling a pair of 28 phantoms
one is all white the other is all black
i dont really need another boat but i thought it was too good to miss
he says they are brand new without rigging or power
i dont know when they were built or anything about these boats
i see you guys on here seem to know your stuff about these boats
what would be the best engine setup single or twin
petrol or diesel any figures would be good with different set ups
i would not be in any panic to get the job done but if it takes me away from the wife and the end result is good im in

i will look forward to any info
cheers shaun

well, are they moulded for inboards or do they have a well?

where are they located? If they are in holland or belgium I think we can be sure they aint Phantoms. If they are in portugal or Spain ....... they could be atleast from the original mould.

they are in holland
im sure he said they were set up for twin inbords
he was to send me a few pics this weekend as he is out of the country at the moment
you say they are not phantoms what could they be? what will i look for that makes it different from a real phantom ?
will it be another make of a boat or a moulded phantom with changes
he did say the were genuine phantom 28s
but ive never seen one up close before so he could be trying to pull a fast one
i guessed it was too good to be true

That's very unlikely indeed.

I tried to find the ad but it has been removed .....

Slomo, if you want to know all about Phantoms and Copies I suggest you just do a search for "phantom 28" and "splash" on this forum. The subject has been discussed to exhaustion many times and the views of the forums administrator (amoungst others) have been aired.

However, If you wanted to post details and pictures of the specific boats you are being offered I'm sure some people here will be able to tell you what they are........I.e geniune (unlikely) or a copy (most likely).

Shaun, I was and I am Very Chilled. I was actually trying to be helpfull.

With regards to asking what the build quality is like, get some pictures and I'm sure some people will give thier opinions. the copies that I have seen & heard about all seem to vary in quality. However a couple have had some similarities (which are obvious signs of who they have been built by).

Ph@ntastic, The red and blue phantom 21s are legitimate as they were formed using the purchased Steve Baker original moulds at Trio Mouldings.

The guy just wanted to sell them as they were taking up space.

Although they were not built by Steve Baker himself.
