Korteland - the ones with out the drainplug?
why is that?
Did think you could actually have a hull without a drainplug CE-approved..
I believe that all hull's produced in EU should should be selfbailing..

This company also have a vast experience in race preperation & racing (see website).

Perfectly chilled ta.

Didn't really wanna go down this road, hence the 'polite' & 'vague' reference to the builder.

I'm not going here 'publically'. they paid for the moulds/rights, so are legit. For that they have my respect.

Beyond that, you pays ya money, you takes ya choice.

Na, don't want to escalate this. If you're happy, thats cool.

Go steady with the 'new improved' stuff though, that's quite a sweeping statement.

@Captain Chaos: The 23XL isn't based on the original 23ft. We just named it this way because we already have the CE approval on the original 23ft so it's easier fur us to get CE approval if we say that we 'modified' the 23ft.

@Lars T: Some costumers wanted their boat without a drainplug because they had their boat always in the water and they were affraid to get a leak. You were right saying that a drain plug is needed for CE approval.

Thanks Jan for clearing that up - but how does your consumers then get water out of their boats, never seen a boat that was completly waterprof, especially not a raceboat? and how does the moduls/boats get CE approved if they don't have the plug?

@ Lars T: The CE approval is made on one boat and after you get the CE approval you have to make the rest of your boats the same as the first CE approved one. I understand your question because I don't want to have a boat without a drainplug, because if your bilgepump fails is the bucket the only way to get water out of your boat.

@ Jon Fuller: As a Dutchman I don't really understand your question about the 'royalties'.

OK, the question is, who do you pay for the right to build a boat, the copyright of which, you don't own yourself?

This would usualy be in the form of a 'royalty payment' for each boat you produce and sell using someone elses design, and sometimes a licence fee is also payable to 'set the deal up' in the first place.

You don't own the copyright on the Phantom 21, or 23, so one presumes you must be paying the person who does.

Now I understand. Well it is a long story but I´ll try to make it short. My dad sold Phantom 23´s for Steve Baker here in Holland, but unfortunately Steve stopt building Phantoms and we wanted to continue with Phantom so my dad drove to England in a search for Steve but he came back after not finding Steve but an empty Phantom ´factory´. Our decision was to go and build the Phantom 21´s ourselfs with a changed dashboard so people could regognise the `Korteland Phantom´. Main thing that we build the Phantom 21 is to keep the brand alive here in Holland.
