Phantom or Marshan
Can someone tell me if what boat this is, to me it looks like a Marshan 19 but owner claims it is a Phantom 19. If it is a Marshan are they any good?

Thank you for the quick replies. I think the boat measures 6m thats about 20 ft. Do the Marshan offer the same ride as the Phantom, spedd, rough water handling etc.

You'll get a different answer to that question, depending on what boat the person answering the question has! I think they're pretty good. The builder is a member of the forum, Terry Sleap. (though he hasn't posted yet)

I ran a 19 foot Marshan for several years in both ski racing and OCR and liked it a lot. I found it was easy to get on with, predictable and gave a very good ride. The biggest problem with it was on the corners, it would not go round as quick as the Phantoms. Unlike the Phantoms that dig in on the turns, the Marshan used to slide, forcing you very wide and losing a lot of time. In the end we used to aim for the buoy and at the last minute throttle right off, as the boat was settling down into the water hurl the wheel and plant the throttle and she would accelerate nicely round the turn. Takes a bit of practice but it works. Following seas need to be treated with respect also as the nose tends to stuff especially if you are carrying any water in the bow tank. In head seas and beam seas it was great. Hope this helps.
