Matt, If you splashed a chowdown what would you call it?
Personaly I think Phantom would be a good name.

The irony of splashing a chowdross quite appeals to me.
Naturally I would make significant improvements to it along the way and call it my own design.

i'm not great, I'm not even close to beng plain 'good'.
But i understand that theres a huge difference between:
(A) making a copy of a little engine cover (which I'm still not wholeheartidly in favour of, hence why mines all genuine!).......note not the engine itself! They're gonna be essentially non or minumum profit at the kind of figures thats been discussed!
AND
(B) Splashing months of someones work, years of development, £1000's of sunken costs.............then not only selling them at a huge personal profit, claiming theyre better to boot.
Now listen matey, we each have our own tastes etc. Your 21 was looking quite sharp at cowes. But I think this particular disscusion is a bit 'case closed'..............I must have repeated meself atleast 5 times on this thread!

people will always copy steal other peoples designs history is full of it weather we are talking about cowlings watches powerboats or any other product from any industry the world is full of crooks mostly at the top of there game praying on the decent man but buisness does not protect the nice guy its down to survival of the fittest or the guy with the deapest pockets you may not like it but thats life
admiration to jon and others for sticking up for sb his mate a great british boat designer and educating people about chauldren
but this aside sb has retired and no longer building boats so it looks like the crook has won in this case he maybe claiming the designs are his and of course say they are better he can hardly say they are the same can he but if his moulds are not within 10% he is not breaking any law weather you agree with this law or not
the next generation of performance boaters will be faced with buying a 20 year old boat or a copy of the great design which one do you think they will buy
this is just how i see it
the end agreed this is far to long and serious

Jon your web site is for people who are "mad about boats" am I correct. Or is mad about only great boats designed 20 yrs ago but you can't buy a new 1 now?
I am personally just mad about any good looking & high performance boat. No boat prejudiced!!
This forum is for discussing fake phantoms. Is this only if you agree with your view? You won't take me up on my offer to measure our boats which prove you right or possibly wrong.
What are u affraid of?
SB did not go out of business, he retired. he is not a young man.
If you know SB so well & you want people to buy legit phantoms & not Chaudrons. Ask him who has the moulds for his larger boats & then tell us all. So mad boaters can buy a great boat & keep you happy.
To finish: I must remember, if I'm overtaking you in the boat Jon,
I should give you really wide berth. Because that bloody great chip on your shoulder must hinder your view somewhat!

Kinfast......My 21 is from the original moulds. For your info 16/18 are with Clive Jones, 20/21/23 are with Trios. I'm unaware that the 25 was sold on at all. The 28 was sold abroad and I suspoect was then sold-on quickly.......so nobody really knows. As for asking SB, why would he know??? do you know who owns your first car now?
With regards to JF having a chip on his shoulder, you've obviosely never met him...he's a very generous, kind person & lots of fun!
If you have had mett him, you'd realise he's much more balanced than that............ he has chips on both shoulders
Now, can i pollitely ask for you to stop being a nob?

Unlikely if the description of your boat given as 33' w/ twin 225's is accurate. Further, JF has won numerous national championships and holds the record for production class boats.
Your credentials?
