Thats a 140hp.

The boat has a small beam. I believe it was about 17 feet long.

They were used for ski racing here in Belgium.

Most of them had a modified 140 rude on the transom.

Was a fun boat to drive. There is one for sale here in belgium. It's cheap but reckon on it that it will need lots of work. Might be a nice set with a 115ho.

piranha carrera

Hi, we have a couple of carrera here too, I've tested, long time ago the carrera of EASY avatar with the 200 merc.
Here a picture of my old one a 1987 model ,sold years ago but completely rebuilt last year, honeycomb floor, new transom, newfiber layer inside...
Still running fast for a 25 years old boat, fitted with a 2.5 merc carb with Gforce tuner/cylinders heads/boysen reeds/bobs nose cone.
A lot of fun to drive.

hello bruno,

Thank you for your response. Currently, a EvinrudeXP is 300 to the boat. I want to try out the engine in any case. Then I'll decide if I my new Evinrude E-Tec 200 3.3 liter V6 driving the boat at 90 degrees. I think it is the package the better. what do you mean?

Carrera

Dirk,
franck269 run the carrera in the French champ, as he explains, 3liters engines are not appropriate for this hull, your engine is too heavy, with a COG very hight. If you use the boat on a river and straight line, may be, here one guy years ago installed a 300XP on a P21, very dangerous to drive. Another has installed a 350SCI behind a R21, 80knots, but nobody want to go like copilot or passengers. Then the guy destroyed the boat after an incontroled top speed .
Back in the end of eighties, a lot of racers here, used Carrera with 2.4 efi, and or Jonhson 200 GT, some of them have distroyed the transom very soon on brand new boat, almost lost engines. The plywood used on transom and deck in the carrera is not marine one, but std quality, like CTBX we call here in France. You can install and test the carrera with the 300XP, but I think very soon you will think like us.
Don't forget, if your transom is original one, may be better to cast a glance on it, if you have a aluminum ''angled bar'' on the top of the aft transom, i with pop up rivets , a lot chance your transom is full of moisture.
Try to find a 200XS 2010 model, the top speed using a jack plate and good prop like the tempest plus (Carrera need bow lift props) and you will be around to 120km/h GPS with a few gear and gas.
The ETEC 3.3 200 is not a bad choice, I've tested the 225on a R20 topped at 66.7knots, not so bad, but you need attention due to the weight of those engines, installed on narrow beam hull.

Hope this help
Bruno

Looks nice! What speed were you getting?

Was that a 200hp or the 245hp carb?
