Propeller pitch

Hi all!
Bit of advice needed... again.
I have a ring 20 with a 150hp Yamaha 2 stroke outboard. It came with a 13 3/4 x 17 prop but I had a quicksilver Mercury stainless laser 14 1/4 x 23 so changed it over to this. I’m struggling to get any more over 40mph revving at around 4000rpm been told the engine will rev to 6000rpm. Anyone got any advice on getting more top end speed or what pitch prop I should be using?

What results were you getting from 13&3/4 x 17... ??
The larger prop may be your problem causing your motor to struggle to rev where you want it to be, put a smaller prop on and see where you go with that, if you still getting only 4000 rpm then you might have an issue with your motor...
