Watched the film this evening and thought the footage of the boats running was great. Although I would of liked to have seen more of the heart ache and perseverence of the teams to complete the epic race. After speaking to a lot of the teams and listening to their stories it would have given the film more of a story.
I love watching boats run but feel there was too much footage of this. I suppose that this DVD film is purely a souvenir for those who took part. In my opinion if we saw more of the bravery and sheer tenacity of the people racing it might even make it on TV. Oh and Nick Knowles made it sound a little too DIY SOS.
Thats just my thoughts.

To be fair, in this event there was some 'SOS' ..and plenty of DIY! lol.
I do aggree, story vs racing footage ratio was a bit heavily weighted on the racing footage side, especially as it was predominantly flat water, and so less interesting than it could have been if it were snotty.
I also think there was too much footage of Hannes, who although clearly a big player, ultimately came an overal 28th, so mebbe a higher ratio of the various class winners etc would have been nice.
Still, a fabulous record of the event and some lovely footage for the archives.

Thanks for your comments.
As I said on another thread, this was a film for those who took part and there was only so much we could do with one camerman, also this is only the high lights taken from 35 hours of film. I had seven quotes to do this film and they were all in the region of £180,000 to £200,000 and would take three crews to do! We did it on a shoe string.
The film has been taken by a TV Channel but will only be a 48 minute one plus adverts so it wil be a totally different film to the one we have just done. It will be much tighter and whizzier so that it appeals to Joe Public. I'm just pleased that there is a record, and a good one, of this great race.

Footage
Can any of the footage be posted on You tube so that some of the public can see it?
If so maybe a link from this thread will be appropriate.
I missed the whole thing even though you passed a marker bouy 1 mile from my window (Teignmouth Diffuser)

Mike has asked me to put together a short teaser edit of footage from Ian and David (maybe 10-15 mins) and also a similar offering from the CTC video, to host here in an effort to encourage future interest in the endurance classes, especially from overseas.
I will endevour to this soonest, but am quite busy.
Will also render off a small version of the final edit of David's Diary and upload it.

For torrents (ahem), about 350 meg for 40 minutes is the norm, and about 700 meg for a 720p.
Are you doing a 2-pass cut? I did a 2-pass cut of the copy of davids setting a target size of 700 meg and the quality was very good, and I would expect a 350 meg one to still be at "TV" quality. And naturally, the meda site has the bandwidth to host it.

Serious Air.
Amazing pic by Chris Davies taken from our helicopter of Wettpunkt taking serious air in that huge swell off of Milford Haven on the Bangor leg of the RB08. I wonder if Chris got the same shot of Fabio as in the film he was doing very much the same with approx three second flights between the swells.
