Recommendations for a 30 foot boat mould manufacture

Hi All,

Does anyone have any recommendations as to who to use for mould makers. I have a 30 foot speed boat design I am looking to manufacture for myself as a one off. Currently looking into costings / recommendations for the mould tool / plug makers preferably i the southampton area (the design is CNC capable).

We are based in Warsash, and have work shop facilities for the manufacture / lay up but wouldn't want to get involved in making the plug, any ideas or recommendations would be grate.

thanks

stuart

A lot of the CNC plug manufacturers in the US will build the tooling also.

One thing I dont like about CNC plugs is, you dont have the option of adjusting on the fly, if theres a problem with the drawing its transfered all the way to tooling. Also what looks right on a drawing doesnt always look right when its built.

You can always do a couple of 3D prints to validate the design if you dont like to look at 3D models on a computer screen.

We made the 34' (38' overall) boat including plug, mould and boat on the water in 18 months using a laser cut MDF skeleton for the plug - Happy to give you a price for part or all of it but we're in Devon.
