Restoration of a classic
Had a discussion on the other site about the old compasses that were used in the 60's on the race boats. Thought you might like to see these photos.
One of our HORBA members recently restored the original Cigarette....the first race boat that Don Aronow ever named.. The Cigarette.
It is a Formula 233 and is powered with an original 409 cu in engine. Don raced it in the Miami to Key West race and then it was sold to George Peroni who won a race with it.
The HORBA member is going to take the boat to Miami and reunite George Peroni and his old war horse one more time. We hope to have many photos from that reunion.
