Bandit you're not the only Revenger owner to have transom failier. Mine was a brand new 27 RIB. Told them that the intended engine was a MERC 2.5 EFI but to start with a 200 was fitted. I pulled the knees away with the 200!
They fixed it with a few layers of chopped mat & a 6mm bolt either side of both knees. Did the job for about 5 mins. I then recieved a diclaimer from Mr Slog git so I took the boat to Gordon Wright for a proper repair & started racing with my 2.5 EFI & had no further problems.
Also Miles Jennings had a 29 RIB with twins built & the transom failier was so bad that he nearly lost his engines.

Hello! Last year I bought a Revenger 25 Mediterrainee. I had to remove the inboard v8 engine as it had blown. Before I replace the engine, is it worth me 'beefing up' the transom? Are inboard engined Revengers less prone to transom failure? Cheers. Russ

My san marino has over 2000 hours of big block on it and the engine is out at the moment. Having read all this I've had a real good look and there is no sign of stress that I can see.

I can't see a bravo drive mounted mid depth and just one end of the engine sitting on it would give the same sort of leverage as a set of outboards sitting that bit higher, so I guess we're safe. He said solidly holding a piece of marine ply

Thumbs down

Don't panic about the inboard versions of this hull

The problems arise from the mod. on my transom. This is creating the power to have to higher CG. on a raised the transom.

I didn't get it done on the cheap but by one of there dealers. ( so they should know better)

My only concern is: CAN YOU BLOODY WELL ASSURE ME IN WON'T CRACK AGAIN.

and if it does what the ck will you do next. and is it going to cost me.

If you aren't using the Revenger for the RGB race what are you going to use Bandit, or is it a secret?

Me back won't last 1600 miles in the Revenger (or the transom) so we need something with abit more length. (Where have i heard that before)

Two things, when Miles ordered his Rev29 he was asked what engine was to be fitted, his reply was a SINGLE 200-225.Next question-what was the boat to be used for-answer- pleasure and some chartering!! The boat was delivered and almost immediatly the single engine removed as was part of the deck and BOTH transom knee's & twin engines fitted, the floor was secured back down with secoflex!! None of this was done by Revenger! then the boat went RACING !! Second-the ONLY people that can advise on Revenger structural modifications are Midas Marine and Colin Weston-Nobody else! when i wanted my hull and transom modded i paid Colin to check my hull and produce line drawings to enable the standard hull to cope with the added power. If anybody wants to check on what I have just written call Revenger and talk to Phil or Rick & Ian at Midas. My point(finally) is that if you want to mod your boat then get it done properly in the first place and dont let people who only want your money ONCE fob you off with 'that will be fine mate'.

Bandit I will pm you Colin Westons mob no. at least let him look at the boat and advise you of the best way to properly strengthen your transom, but i do think you should give serious thought to changing to 20" mid sections,as someone has already posted this will lessen the strain on your transom and improve handling.Have to say she looks stunning for a boat that must be 12 years old.
