Lol we will have to take lord of the rings out with the 2.5 280 Steff see what it will do with a big engine on

I edited my post so it would not stirr anything up... I replied in general that I thought it unlikely that the boat would do 70. Speed costs...
And for the record: I like Rings.
Satisfied with that?

I'm aiming for 70mph from my 21C, 2.5 200, CLE 'box, 17" setback and lifter. Looking at the info on this thread it should be possible with a 23-24" prop revving up to around 6.5K then? The oil injection is being removed from the motor so it should be safe to rev that high so I've been told?

I hope I haven't lost my reactions or bottle!

Don't be put off going fast in a Ring.
They seem safe at speeds.
Myn was far more stable with the xr2 on it but not as fast.
The opti was a bit heavy on the back, especially when ya m8s are in the boat.
A 2.5L 200 would be best.

I've also heard a smilin jack is good on the 21c. I think you should be able to pass 75 then...... Richie.....!

Standard Opti 225 -03. Prop was a 3 blade Fury 27 pitch. I only have the useless systems monitor and was at bit busy to look at revs...
Two people in the boat both times i´ve been over 65 knots. Late autumn and cold calm days.

All out of holes The aft is under renovation and the new holes will sit a lot higher. Also looking for a lift.
There are a few things that should be noted.
65 knots is not everyday speed. But on occasion I find the balance and can just let it run on WOT to find revs and speed. A 1 foot chop is usually perfect. In flat waters I lost 1-2 knots with the old engine.
I use my boat in protected waters and the boat is set up accordingly. I think that differs from your boats which you run in rougher waters.

Just started testing the 21C that I'm racing this year.
2.4BP EFI revs to 6200 with a 25 Balistic, dont know the speed as the GPS wasnt working but even at poor slip numbers I'd say its high 60's.
Want to raise the engine a hole or two as its way too low and try a blueprinted 25 laser or a chopper.
Tony, strange that the 2.5 was quicker with a shorter pitch, or was that a typo? Were they both stock 200's?
In your opinion, what was better handling, through hub or over hub?
Thanks, Alan

advice
advice i thought was asked at the start of this thread and the profile does say JUST FOR FUN.....
my advice to you is stick it in the water and stick your foot down and hit the trim button, you boat may well not do 70 mph bang on,BUT as i said from the start it wont be far off.... Your set up is a well tested and well used solid set up.... yea a bit twitchy but if you listened to all this you would probably never go boating again.... at the end of the day thats all down to you...ie THE DRIVER.................
By the way i have a 19ft cyclone with a 150hp rude on it. without a skier it will do 68.1mph on garmin gps..............
CYCLONE ALL THE WAY..

I didn't say one was quicker than the other!
I dunno what speed with either, as it was pre gps, so only a speedo to compare. 2 different boats, with a 5-6 year gap between them. Both stock motors, ride guide steering.
The best handling was the through hub, as the chopper had terrible torque reaction, used to have to steer with right arm wedged against the side panel just to hold boat in straight line!

Hi,
I owned a 21E ( white and purple ), with a 200 opti, rear seat bench etc in boat, top speed was 65 to 66 mph GPS, but chine walking.
Engine directly on the transom, 24 tempest plus prop at 5600-5700 rpm.
On a 20 with 200 hp, 70mph must be possible but with light weight setup etc, and a well balanced boat.
Regards
