Ring 21 Eligible race classes. HELP
Hi Everyone
Looking for some help please.
Have a Ring 21 which I would like to race in 2012 and was wondering what races series/classes this will be eligible for
Have spoken to a few people that say all OCR racing has been suspended.?
RYA website is rather useless.
Are there any websites that contain useful info.
Im based in Devon so are there any local races?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou.

What power have you got?
We raced a Ring 21 this year in Basic Races.
Best bet would be to contact Bob McCarthy, OCRDA on this forum, no doubt he'll be along shortly anyway.
He will fill you in on the requirements, etc.

Thanx for that, with regards the engines
I have two options
Either a Merc XR2 (currently being rebuilt)
Or a Mariner 200 hp thats already on the boat.
Any thoughts or opinions would be great

Personally I'd stick with the mariner 200, presuming its a 2.5 or 3.0 litre motor, more grunt for the heavy Ring. Plus a little more reliable!
Basic racing is great fun, gets you out racing with what ya got, then decide what if any class you want to go for.
Hopefully see you next year on the water

if the Mariner is a carb'd 2.5 then get the flywheel and stator off the XR2 and bung them on that. Ditch the oil injection and run a premix, and as Hydrostream says you should have a torquier more reliable motor. Basics would be the way to go to start, you'll love it
