I am after some sage advice re performance / value
from anyone who has owned or used one in the past.

any opinions on what speed it should be capable of with the existing set up ?

Cheers

Use "Ringcat" & search the forum there are some pre build pics & other bits on the boat. Tony also reproduced the boat test in one of the threads

Rockey

I have just put another ring cat 22 on the water (from Robert) Dave did the finishing I made the tea, nice bloke but can he drink tea!

I have put a Suzuki 300 on it out of interest and at the moment does just over 60 mph but this boat is heavy.

Could it also be that the engine is too low; the c/l of the g/box is about 100mm above the bottom of the sponsons. The engine does not cavitate when getting onto the plane unless you trim it out a lot.

I have about 10inches of lift above the rub rail (with a bracket made by John Cunningham) but no additional lifter (remember that the 300 is XLS so 5 inches longer shaft than yours)

In the rough the boat runs like a 26ft Mono it really is fantastic

Blinddog and myself were having a conversation about the ring cats just 2 weeks ago, as there was a guy up here in Dundee who had Dave Anderson Marine fit a Yam VX250 carb version a few years ago to a Ring Cat its name was PERRRR-FECT if anyone knows it.
the boat was lovely and felt solid in the water, but would only pull just over the 60 mark, he then sold it because of this, it went down the south coast somewhere.

60mph on a 22' boat with 300hp? Streuth, I shan't be buying one of them then!

That's more respectable though isn't it - 50hp less, faster, and fully loaded.

60mph with a 300 seems like madness though. Are you sure they didn't accidentally put a 3 on instead of a 2?

I think up here (Scotland) the idea of a cat conjures up the idea of a race boat, the ultimate etc, and comming from Ring i know his expectation was super fast, i do agree with you as i have never seen a Ring Cat in race series.
have you seen one close up in the flesh? they are nice.
