Red Or Dead II.
Yes, she is for sale. Decided it's a bit of a waste using it 90% of the time for wakeboarding, although I love the boat and unless I get the right offer I'll hang on to it as it's just too nice to give away.
If anyone wants a look or sea trail, let me know and I'll happily oblige.

What are the issues with using Red or Dead 2 for wakeboarding? Is the wake just too small or are there other issues?
The reason I ask is that I currently wakeboard off a small outboard powered speedboat and will be looking to trade up in the next year or so and an Extreme like this would have been high on my list of options as opposed to a Bayliner/Maxum bowrider type of thing.
I also wakeboard in the sea and have decided against a pure wakeboard boat (i.e Mastercraft, Nautique, Tige etc) as the ones I have been in haven't handled the chop too well.

The wake is fine, in fact I'd say its reasonable and at the right speed is fairy clean, I'm just getting fussy and want a better wake and tower etc. The boat seems a little uncomfortable at wakeboarding speed, only just on the plane and the bow always rides high even with the trim fully in - just think a ski boat will be more econimical, maybe? Also, I think I/O is pretty dangerous if your mainly skiing/towing even though we always switch off when dropping and picking up, seems like an accident waing to happen.
As for the boat itself, it's the bollocks so no worries there.

Have acquired an Extreme 21 / 5.7mpi this year as a replacement for a Ring 21E / ProV 200, mainly used for water skiing.
The boat planes level at low speed, leaves a clean wake & is more economical than the outboard.
Only difference being the pull out is not quite so instantaneous - I guess due to the motor being a 4 stroke is a more complex mechanism to wind up than a 2 stroke & it is heavier. Its just something you get used to.
I dont understand why the I/O is any more dangerous than outboard - it is still an underwater unit fitted with an amputation device when running !!!!!!!!

No,I meant I/O is more dangerous than a shaft drive ... I/O is same danger level as outboard as both are hanging right out the back ...
Steve ..BTW does yours have trim tabs? Mine planes at about 1800 revs with the 21 3 blade. It planes fine ay anything over 1800 revs, it's just not that great for towing when you've got a boat full of people due to the weight being all at the back.

Apologies - hadn't realised you were comapring the I/O with a shaft drive.
No havn't got trim tabs at the moment but consdering a set for next year.
Like your it planes at about 1800 rpm fitted with a 24 pitch 4 blade but we normally ski faster than that so I guess we dont have the same problem.
A set of trim tabs should certainly overcome the problem. Had a set previously fitted to a Phantom 21 / Merc 220 & they transformed the handling of the boat.
