Robin Brown (WMBRC & Records Week)

It's with deep regret that I have to inform the powerboat racing community of the passing away this morning of Robin Brown after a long and courageous battle against illness.
The majority of people on this site will only have known him for his invovement with Records Week at both Windermere and Coniston.
Out thoughts go out to his family at this very sad time.

I'll post the funeral details as and when I receive them.

Robin Brown

From my experience Robin was a very kind man, always keen to do anything he could to help.
I think its nice to remember people for the good times:
It must have been 1991 and I was asked to take Princess Anne out in my Frode 23 on Windermere to show support for the campaign to stop the looming speed limit.
Robin was to escort Princess Anne for the day. I was stationed at the end of the Low Wood pontoon, boat warmed up, lifejacket on, ready to go.
The Royal party duely arrived, Robin introduced me to The Princess who had on a pair of overalls. There was some smalltalk and she was handed an Oberg lifejacket with crutch straps.
She struggled into the jacket but couldn't reach the straps between her legs, so she asked Robin to assist her. Now you have never seen anyone be so embarrased as Robin as he bent down to reach between her legs, shielding his eyes with his hands. As he dared not to look it took ages to locate the strap much to the amusement of the small group on the pontoon, but not The Princess herself I have to add !
But then again not everyone gets to feel between a Princesses thighs do they ?
And then we had to get her helmet on but that's another story.
Very fond memories ...

Robin is to be cremated at a private family service.

There will be a Memorial Service held in the New Year. I'll post the details when I've received them.
