Round Britain '08 book finally available!

I'm ridiculously pleased to be able to announce that my book on the 2008 Round Britain race is finally finished! It's called "Chasing The Horizon- one man's account of the 2008 Round Britain Powerboat Race".
A certain OldMan was kind enough to give me his opinion of the book, which I value greatly, considering his role!

It made me laugh out loud many times and brought tears of emotion to my eyes at others. It is a great read for anyone with a feeling of the sea and an ounce of adventure in their soul and without a doubt Derek has all of that in spades.

I couldn’t put the book down until I had read it in full. It’s hilariously funny in places and very poignant in others, Derek has written an account of his experiences in this race in such a way that you are standing there along side him feeling the pain and sharing in the enjoyment.

Many of his criticisms are valid, we the organisers made mistakes as we are only human but after 24 years and two and half years of development the race happened and those taking part completed their dream and now have memories they will never forget.

I don't claim to have written the definitive chronicle of the race, just my own personal experiences. Having said that, I've done my best to include the stories of many other competitors- especially that of some of the smaller teams, who's adventures might have been overlooked by much of the boating Press.

can't see P1 letting this race with an Ocke wing attached all the other manufactures will start sprouting wings and it does not fully retract going by their video and at 128mph 6000+kg and 2400hp I would of thought if you weighted Reggie's cat killer and knocked off a few ponies it would still exceed those speeds

Just received my signed copy from Derek so that’s it for the weekend, the garden and the odd jobs that need to be done can wait until another day.

Blazing fire, glasses cleaned and polished, whisky/coffee to my right hand, comfortable chair, and I’m not to be disturbed until I have finished the book once again.

So it’s back to June the 21st 2008.

You lucky bugger, the French postal system might enable me to read my own copy in about a weeks time. Sitting at home with 2 cracked ribs and nothing to read and I wasn't anywhere near a boat at the time!! Extreme dog walking for you!!
