Very few topics make me angry these days but hearing that the RYA declined the nomination by Lord Beaverbrook for the vacant post of UIM President preferring to support Italian candate Raffaele Chiulli clearly shows where their patriotism lies. The Powerboat Racing Committee, chaired by Richard Soloman with members Gary Manchester, John Reed and a rep from the Jet Ski Association decided they preferred someone already in the system. The PBRC arrived at their decision on the strength of a type written profile of Lord Beaverbrook and did not even have to courtesy to invite him to a face to face meeting. John Puddifoot presented the profile (which was written by a third party) to committe members and although not having a vote, Puddifoot was in an advisory position and it's anyones guess what guidance he provided.
