Apparently one of the guys involved was a British businessman, a great tragedy and always a warning that things can go wrong in such powerful powerboats, RIP

Was Mixed emotion a canopy raceboat, thought I read somewhere it was turbine not piston powered

The woman in that article looks a lot like a woman who lived in Poole and has a very large block of rental properties down the road to me, if it is her I recall giving her and her daughter a lift to shore many years back at Studland

The boat was a 46ft Skater with 2 x 1200hp Cobra engines that fitted into Superboat Unlimited class.
Driver - Fritz Eigelshoven (Owner),Throttles - Neil Wobbe

They did a couple of races in 2010 on the SBIP circuit, with one win in class and a retirement. Also participated in Key West with 2 DNS and a 2nd in class.

The previous `Mixed Emotions` was a 40ft Skater in 1996 (J.Carmody) which went on to become Carlos N Charlies,Spirit of Texas,Team Yahoo & Hidden Agenda.That boat was powered by 2 x Mercruiser = 1500hp.

Both the 40 & 46ft boats carried the same race number 18 for some odd reason.

Very difficult to keep track of the skater boats cos they have no character like the cougar cats, but that as far as I can glean.

Great stuff FF nice paint job as ever on those US boats

Would assume the people killed were in the non canopy boat and thrown out or against the dash area, the paper article says these are 100mph boats with that sorta HP more like 150+mph boats

Serious just got serious
